My writings on the controversial "Strad vs New" experiments caught the eye of the NRP producers at Planet Money.  This led to a segment featuring a world-leading violin maker and researcher, Joe Curtin, a world famous soloist, Joshua Bell, and surprisingly, me!

Claudia Fritz, Joe Curtin and Fan Tao designed and ran a follow-on double blinded experiment comparing multi-million dollar Strads vs high quality modern instruments....a follow-on to the original Indianapolis test.

Provides a great overview of the Indianapolis, Paris, New York tests and beyond, attempting to address all the challenges to past tests...but with the same results.

The original Strad vs New tests created such controversy that I wrote many rebuttals on Discovery, Atlantic, Nat Geo, etc.. Norman Lebrecht, founder of the well-known "Slipped Disc" classical music site asked me to write a piece "from the inside".
